Entry no. 8 : Mwera – Ashley Verhulp
St. Helena Race 2024 – Mwera
Double handed duo Lieutenant Bowie, Corporal Ziggy Stardust, recently ordaned as as a minister in the Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster, team up with long standing inspiration, Bill Withers, and take their turn at finding their place in competing for the timeless Governors Cup. Taking control of the Dutch Rudder, they plan on parting the seas with refurbished L34, Mwera, on a magnitude that would make Moses proud.
This is the first time the old girl, will try her level best to perform and plane while these two sea faring fellas, albeit born 200 years too late, push the envelope and revive her innate capability, reminding her of her younger years, reinvigorating the single unfiltered purpose (in the eighties…) of her creation – to race!
Notwithstanding the collective existential crises of all involved, this team will no doubt add their pound of pizazz to the partaking racing fleet. Focused, with fun and depth being the cynosure of their metaphorical world view, we look forward to seeing these two earning their place amongst the ranks of the insane.
